Dealing with Chase Bank (Reno, Nevada branch) has been a nightmare. At the bottom of this email I will insert a detailed description of what they have been doing to me.
I filed a complaint with their Corporate Office about a month ago. Two days ago I received a phone call from Chase Bank, informing me, “Because you filed a complaint, we have closed your account and you will have no access to your funds”.

DETAILS OF ABUSE FROM CHASE…..
I AM 83 YEARS OLD. I OPENED A CHASE BANK CHECKING ACCOUNT AT THE RENO, NEVADA BRANCH IN MARCH, 2019.
MY DEBIT CARD WAS STOLEN IN APRIL. CHASE SENT ME A NEW CARD, WHICH IS NO MORE USEFUL THAN ANY OTHER PIECE OF PLASTIC. I HAVE TRIED AND TRIED TO GET A PIN NUMBER. THEY KEEP TELLING ME IT HAS BEEN SENT AND IS AT THE POST OFFICE – IT HAS NEVER BEEN AT THE POST OFFICE.
I HAVE TO ENTER MY ACCOUNT NUMBER 4 TIMES AND THEN SPEAK TO A BANKER TO FIND MY BALANCE. I AM REPEATEDLY TOLD TO GO TO A BRANCH AND USE THEIR ATM SO I CAN GET A PIN NUMBER. I HAVE TOLD THEM TIME AND TIME AGAIN THAT THEIR CLOSEST BRANCH IS A 100 MILE ROUND TRIP, SO THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY ARE MAILING A PIN NUMBER, BUT THEY DON’T DO IT. THEY TELL ME THAT MAILING A PIN NUMBER WILL TAKE TEN DAYS – THAT’S ANOTHER 10 DAYS WITH NO ACCESS TO MY OWN MONEY!!!!!
WITHOUT A PIN NUMBER I CANNOT EVEN BUY A GALLON OF MILK FROM A LOCAL MERCHANT – MY CARD IS DECLINED. I TRY TO PAY WITH A CHECK AND THE BANK IMMEDIATELY DECLINES MY CHECKS AND HAS DONE SO SINCE THE CARD WAS STOLEN. WALMART PHARMACY WOULD NOT SEND A REFILL OF MY BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATION BECAUSE THE PAYMENT WAS DECLINED. I REPEATEDLY ASKED CHASE TO SEND A PIN NUMBER BY FEDEX, SAYING I WOULD PAY FOR THE SHIPPING. THEY REFUSED TO DO IT.
—————————
Four times I have been told a pin number would be sent to me in “10 days”. Ten days later when it has not arrived I am told to wait another ten days! – Four x ten days = forty days without a pin number. I was so frustrated with Chase yesterday, I was actually in tears.
Does Chase Bank often make their customers cry?
A sarcastic Customer “service” rep told me yesterday that he cannot control how fast the post office delivers – but someone certainly could have controlled how quickly and by what means the damned thing was shipped.
I have filed a formal complaint with the OCC.
Today I was told there are two ways I can get my money…….
1. Wait for them to mail me a check on August 14th. I cannot go that long without my medication or food.
2. Go to their branch in Reno (100 miles) and they can override the block and give me my money, but I don’t trust them to do it. They currently have $1,888.00 of my money and they won’t let me access one cent of it. I do not drive and do not own a vehicle.
WalMart would not refill my prescription for blood pressure medication because my payment was declined. The medication has a “block box warning” – Do not suddenly stop this medication – doing so can cause a stroke or a heart attack. Because Chase won’t give me my own money, I am put in a life-threatening situation. I am 83 years old and I have a large aortic aneurysm. To prevent rupture and immediate death, I MUST keep my blood pressure in control. Chase Bank has raised hell with my blood pressure and has prevented me from getting my medication.
Yesterday I asked that Chase send me a Cashier’s check for the amount in my checking account and subsequently close the account. I was told, “We can’t do that” – meaning that they can’t send a check. They could – they just don’t want to, They will hold onto MY money as long as they can.
I have called Social Security and stopped the electronic deposits of my Widow’s benefit. I will be receiving my payment by paper check.
Chase Bank has put me in a life-threatening situation. They called me two days ago and told me “Because you filed a complaint, we have closed your account and you will have no access to your funds”. I must get my medication – to stop taking it could cost me my life but I cannot get it because Chase has locked my account and I cannot pay for my medication.,
I have begged them to unlock my account so I can get my medication but they just repeat that it is closed PERMANENTLY!
I HATE WHAT CHASE BANK HAS DONE TO ME – THEY ARE LITERALLY THREATENING MY LIFE!!!!
